Addiction Valley publishes plain-language information about addiction, treatment and recovery. We know people often read our pages at a difficult moment, so we keep the information we collect to a minimum and we never sell it.
Who we are

Information we collect
- Information you give us. Your email address when you subscribe to our newsletter, and anything you choose to include when you contact us.
- Usage information. Basic technical details such as pages viewed, approximate location from your IP address, browser type and referring site.
- Cookies and similar tools. Small files that keep the site working and help us understand which articles people find useful.
We do not ask for health records, treatment history, or any other sensitive personal information, and we ask that you do not send it to us by email.
How we use it
- To publish, improve and maintain the guides and resources on this site.
- To send our newsletter, only when you have asked for it.
- To reply to messages you send us.
- To keep the site secure and to prevent misuse.
Sharing
We do not sell or rent your information. We share it only with service providers who help us run the site, such as hosting and email delivery, and only to the extent they need it. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or where it is necessary to protect someone from serious harm.
Keeping your information
Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Messages you send us are kept for as long as needed to answer them and to keep a record of the conversation. Analytics data is kept in aggregate form.

- Ask for a copy of the information we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct or delete that information.
- Block or clear cookies in your browser settings at any time.

Children
This site is written for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Other websites
Our articles link to government, university and health organisation sources. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and this one does not apply to them.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be highlighted on the site.
